Indoor growing space - Peoria, IL - pjstar.com: "PEORIA —
When it comes to indulging their green thumbs, few plant lovers limit themselves to the summer months. Most horticulturists, whether formally trained or amateur, are fascinated by the exotic profusion of tropical plants that grow indoors.

Here is how some make it work.

His own conservatory

John Rogers has gone so far as to build a conservatory and a greenhouse beside his Peoria County home for his collection. Inside, a banana tree grows to the 16-foot ceiling, and a nearby ficus tree is nearly as tall. A variety of cactuses have taken over one corner and a slit-leaf philodendron is so happy it must be trimmed every three months to keep it from blocking a set of concrete steps leading to another room.

"At one time I had 300 different varieties in here," said Rogers."
