Banana tree blooms lotus-like flowers - Weird, fun news from Vietnam - TuoiTreNews
A banana tree in the garden of Ho Tu Do in Son Trung commune, Huong Son district in the central province of Ha Tinh has suddenly bloomed flowers that look like a lotus.
The banana tree’s cluster has born five bunches, each of which is as big as an adult’s biceps.
A special characteristic is that one single banana is followed by a pair sticking together on the bunch.
At the end of the bunches there are numerous small bananas stuck together. There are also seven different buds which are connected and create a lotus-like shape.
According to Dung, Do’s wife, the family has been growing the banana tree for 20 years, but this is the first time the tree has born such special flower shapes.
Since hearing about Do’s strange blossoms, locals have flocked to his house to have a look.
Many said it was an omen, so Do had the tree cut down.
